Welcome Home!

I have happily served Nicolaus Copernicus School (NCS) as Principal since 2010. NCS is a unique school, with a diverse student population, located in the Heights section of Jersey City. I am thrilled to serve such a vibrant school community that values education. NCS is rooted in a rich history of academic excellence and I have been committed to maintaining high levels of achievement and growth, as well as helping students grow from a health and wellness standpoint.  I am progressive and inclusive in making programming decisions by collaborating with the the dedicated staff, students, and community to ensure all voices are heard.  I am a true advocate for students and work tirelessly to provide opportunities for each child to find their passion.

We are known as the “Super Stars” as an ode to our namesake, famed astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus.  Our students are truly Super Stars because of all the great experiences they have at our school. When you enter this school, you will see students working in groups and on projects that enable them to develop as critical thinkers.  Students opportunities include the Science Fair, Spelling Bee, Mock Trial Clubs, Chorus, Band, 3D Printing, Street Hockey Club, STEM Clubs and various contests throughout the year.

Most notably, we are a Health and Wellness School.  We are Silver Award Recipients from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Students have the opportunity to participate in programming such as Fuel Up to Play60, USA Football First Down Clinic, American Heart Association Heart Challenge, Work Out Wednesdays, Go Noodle, Hudson County TMA Walk to School Initiative, and the Rising New York Road Runners. I believe in teaching the whole child and focus on social emotional education as well.  We have a Mindful Monday program in conjunction with Peek A Pak and Worry Woo’s to help teach our Superstars ways to thrive mentally. Most importantly, I want our students to always remember to be humble and kind as the leave our school to begin their new adventures.  We challenge each and every student to shoot for the stars!
